On September 6, in Vilnius the Council Meeting of Youth of European Peoples Party (YEPP) adopted the Draft resolution on Georgia-Russian conflict presented by Democratic Alliance. In preparation of the was resolution also took part Young Rights of Georgia, Young Rukh (Ukraine), Youth of Latvia People's party (YLPP, Latvia), New Generation of the Christian-Democratic People’s Party (NG PPCD, Moldova). Much contribution was done by representatives of Junger Union of Germany to agree and balance positions of all countries in the text of the resolution.
Adopted resolution includes conviction of Russia actions in sovereign and independent Georgian state. Yepp calls upon EU to: be consistent to its decision to suspend negotiations on EU-Russia agreement and consider suspension on WTO Russia membership before the solution of the conflict.
The resolution also marks the necessity to introduce a stronger monitoring over Russian foreign policy in regard to its neighbor states, especially Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova, to prevent similar military developments. And to acknowledge the legitimate preparations and aspirations of Georgia and Ukraine to join the NATO membership Action plan.
Youth often comes more forward with conclusions and propositions and its is good because grownup politicians some times put objectivity under expedience, discrediting the basic values of freedom and solidarity, we are satisfied with the contribution we made to form objective vision of this question in such important organization as YEPP.
